Every Kid Fed x Cox Elementary Read-in
This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of volunteering to read at one of my food pantry locations, Cox Elementary. It's truly important to teach the value of reading at a young age to help the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, problem-solving and personal development.
Not only did I read science books and black history books, I gave the kids a sneak peek of my own children's book, Sasha the Scientist! I also spoke to students about what having a passion means, the importance of being kind, and spoke about my career in medicine while giving the kids an opportunity to wear my white coat and try out my stethoscope! They had such a blast, as did I! This was also such an amazing opportunity to encourage the youth, meet some great educators, administrators, and parents who also volunteered their time to read. Thank you Cristina for putting such a great event together!
